After Care Information
Post-Treatment Instructions
  1. YOU HAVE JUST HAD BONDED COSMETIC RESTORATION (Veneers, Bonding, Nonmetallic Fillings)
  2. Most Importantly - SMILE! You now have a bonded restoration that looks beautiful and natural. It provides the ultimate in function; as well as strengthening the supporting tooth.
  3. The cement is already set - and your bonded restoration is ready for immediate use.
  4. If anesthetic was used, please be careful not to bite your cheek or tongue. Also, do not eat or drink anything extremely hot or cold until all medication has worn off. Do not try to eat while any part of your mouth remains numb to prevent choking.
  5. If any minor discomfort at the restoration site occurs, it should diminish over a few days.
  6. Your bite alignment should feel normal. If sensitivity to hot, cold or biting pressure is present beyond 3-4 days, call us so we can discuss scheduling an adjustment fitting, even before any scheduled follow-up polishing visit.
  7. Chewing extremely hard or crunchy foods may damage your new bonded restoration. In particular, please refrain from chewing ice, tearing open plastic packages with your teeth, and biting anything that may cause damage (such as fingernails, etc.).
  8. Proper care of your new bonded restoration is a must! Brushing and flossing can be accomplished by you at home to prolong the life of your smile. There are no special precautions needed for your restored tooth (teeth). Brush and floss it like you do all of your teeth. Correct care also includes a mouth rinse such as: Listerine, Oxyfresh, Crest, and many others, as directed - a minimum of twice per day. This care will not only promote health at the site of your restoration, but will also help to prevent problems elsewhere in the mouth.
  9. We recommend professional follow-up evaluations at least twice per year. This can be accomplished at the same time as a routine hygiene appointment every 6 months. We then can evaluate the wear of your new bonded restoration, perform a touch-up if necessary, and polish areas when needed.
  10. Congratulations! You have just received the most advanced, state-of-the-art cosmetic and structurally sound restorative dentistry available today.
